Herb sells golf balls from his car next to the Mohawk gas station on Bowen Road every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting of course.
"It started by accident,” he says of the business, Golf Ball Sale which has been operating for four years now. “I had a garage sale and sold three or four dozen."
Herbs grandsons help him out on occasion and Herb enjoys the company. The golf ball business is steady but it's safe to say that he"s not fighting off the crowds or scrambling to keep up.
He listens to the radio and reads sports magazines to pass the time and while he used to play golf on a regular basis, he doesn’t get out much anymore.
Herb buys and sells golf balls and packages them by name in egg cartons, Nike, Revolution, Top Flight and the list goes on. The balls start at 5 dollars per dozen and you can get two dollars off by recycling your old ones.
