And last but certainly not least this week, I'd like to introduce Len Greaves and his pet Ewe, Daisy. Len bottle fed Daisy, who is the surviving half of twins born on Len"s hobby farm three and half months ago.
While it’s not unusual for bottle fed animals to form strong bonds with the caregivers, Daisy has taken her misplaced kinship to an extreme.
"She follows me everywhere, “ says Len. “I’m her number one priority. Then if I’m not available, she’ll sleep with the dogs and then as a third resort, she’ll go and sleep with the other Ewes.”
Daisy is a St. Croix Hair Sheep. Len breeds them for pet stock because of their friendly nature, beautiful markings and because they don’t need shearing. And if that isn’t enough, Len says they also make “…great portable lawnmowers.”
There’s no doubt that Daisy’s in love with Len but what’s hard to determine is who’s more attached to who - Daisy to Len or Len to Daisy.
“I couldn’t get rid of her,” Len says about his future with Daisy. “She’s just too darn attached and she licks me and oh gosh!”
